can anyone pleaseeee help..my problem is with the sewage smell which comes out from the soil pipe behind the wc..the toilet is on the 3rd floor of a newly built (3years old....warranty ran out last year) town house. i have tried pouring gallons of jeyes fluid down the drain and not to mention every conciable detergant available on the market..to no avail i have also checked for blockages..there doesn't seem to be any

Kev, that would cause the wc to fill when flushed wouldn't it ?
Have you checked for leaks, is it boxed in / open, need more information really.
 
thanks for getting back .....whereabouts is the valve usually located will i have to replace the valve or is there a way to fix the said problem

yes it is boxed in....there was a leak a while ago when using the bath or sink but the leakage all of a sudden stopped
 
The valve sits on the top of an internal soil stack (is yours internal ? as I said earlier, more information required really). You don't fix them, they are less than £20.

(now you tell us) me thinks the leak has not stopped, you just can't see it anymore. No point looking for an (alternative) easier option than what appears to be staring you in the face. Crack those eggs (take the boxing off) and make the omelette.
