Hi

I live in a bungalow and in one of the bedrooms I recently noticed a foul smell coming from sink area. After changing u bend, plunging sink and removing cement away from area where sink waste pipe is the pipe goes into 4 inch soil pipe.

I suspect the smell is coming from the soil pipe. I try to place a plastic cap over it l, drilled a hole for 32mm waste pipe then silicone sealed around the area.

The smell still appears, any ideas how to sort? Would the rubber seal with the 32mm opening help?

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

Does the soil stack go through the roof to the open air? or is there an AAV in the loft?

Did you use a strap boss or 32mm adapter to fit the 32mm pipe to the soil pipe/stack? If not then I'm afraid it's not been fitted properly.

Is the soil stack push fit or solvent welded? You may have a shrunk joint in the soil pipe/stack and it's no longer sealed.

Can you post a pic of the pipe and it's location?

No the soil pipe is level with the floor and has the sink waste pipe fed into it.

just googled here what about this:

Waste Pipe Adaptor - 110mm x 32mm Single To Socket - 13440 (bes.co.uk)??
