Where can I buy these other than Axminster? I see in the states 1/2" shank 1/2" dia can be found for around $35, over here its around £60

Don't know but i would order them from the states.

I've order lots of items from the states. When you consider the exchange rates it will quite often work out less than half price even including the postage costs.

Not all spiral bits are created equal. There's some awful crap around, but I have to admit prices in the UK do seem a tad high. I've had success with cutters from Wealden Tool, though. Their spirals are here

Ive bought around 50 lots from ebay .com usa most arrive within a week
ive only been stung for vat and post office handling 3 times. Normally around 30 quid depending on consignment value
