Just in the final throws of having a solid wood floor fitted.
When we pulled the the carpet the previous concrete base was only held together by the latex.
Problem 1- replace old floor
got that done, 13m2 replaced, 2" depth fulled out and skipped, waterproof sealput down on suspended floor joists and new sub floor put in. I am lighter in the pocket but thinking "this new floor will look great and last well after that"
Well, next the people who are going to fit the floor come in and now, apparently, I need a latex self levelling compound down- for which they will happily charge me £200 to do. Very nice of them.
so my question is does the need for self levelling compound mean that the people who did the sub-base didn't get the level right.
if so, then i should be talking to them and not paying £200 extra?
if we just layed onto concrete, assuming it was level would that be okay or too prone to cracking.
