Hello,

I apprecitate that these questions are a little vague, I only want an idea.

Will ivy damage walls? I'm talking of a whole wall covered in the stuff. If so what sort of damage are we talking?

If a house has some damp issues, what can be done to remedy them?

What sort of costs are you looking at to replace wooden sach windows?

Thanks in advance.

It is unlikely to damage the masonry unless the ivy can penetrate within a gap or join like in the soffit for instance and then you can look out!

It will depend upon whether it is penetrating damp, condensation or rising damp.

Replacing like for like is very expensive. even replacing sash windows with plastic fellas is prices simply because of the remedial work after ripping out the weight boxes and making good etc.

Expect to pay £1000 - £1500 like for like.

Yes ivy damages walls - softening pointing, promoting dampness, wrecking paintwork and growing into the wall or room or loft. Some varieties are worse than others

You remedy "damp issues" by eliminating the cause, and then repairing any damage

As for window costs, you are correct about the vagueness :p
