Can someone please help, our alarm has been going off and on all night and no matter what I do it just keeps making a noise at some point.

We have a Concept 6 alarm which was already installed when we bought the house 18 months ago (alarm installed in 1996 so quite clearly passed its sell by date). The outside siren started blipping at first, then continuously went off at 2am!!! Alarm wasn't even set! Went and put the code in and it stopped, then it started up again. So did the same again. Once it had stopped turned the electric off and took the front cover off power box to try and see if there was anyway to isolate it, wasn't sure so didn't mess. Alarm obviousl went off because it then changed to tamper. Code turned it off. Put cover back on power box then turned electric back on, panel still showin tamper and not responding to anything when I push the buttons, alarm started going off again. turned electric off siren stopped but panel is making a horrible screeching noise, panel doesnt go off when electric is off, is this because it runs off the batttery???? Please can anyone suggest anything I can do, if I do need to call an engineer can anyone tell me how much this is likely to cost with it being Sunday

Thanks

If you do not use the alarm, and want an easy fix, have a look by the main panel.

There should be a fused spur near by supplying it.

Use a small screwdriver to lever the fuse drawer out, and remove the fuse.

Then, open the cover of the panel, like you did last night, and you should see the back up battery.

It will look similar to one of the ones at the front of this picture

You need to remove one of the wires from this battery. The connecter will just pull off the battery terminal.

Now your external bell will go off for 20 mins, but after that, it will not go off again.

Thanks very much, ended up having to take battery out from siren box outside too as wouldn't stop going off. Now sorted, better sleep last night ;)
