I'm going on business to a company in Stansted airport, and have no idea what the area is like. Can anyone recommend a decent village/town within a 15-20 minute drive from Stansted which has a decent pub and a B&B in it?

Many thanks if you can.

try yellowpages

Where abouts is that?

round the back of blue pages road its highly recommended by all.

except the 118 118 guys

The problem with joke Jefoss is that Yellow Pages own those fools at 118 118 and so they would likely recommend each other, although I find both tedious and less than useful.

What a useful bunch of replies so far.

Try Bishop Stortford, a significant size town, Great Dunmow, a small town and fairly pretty. Thaxted, really picturesque, and the starting point for Dick Turpin's escapades. He used to work in the butchers shop there. Saffron Walden, larger than Dunmow, and again picturesque, though a few miles north of Thaxted.

Need any more?

Thanks for the useful information oilman and CG, however why has THIS post ended up in name calling and slagging off as well?

FFS will some of you grow up! It's like being at primary school again.
