Our sovereign lawn mower struggles to keep running it starts no problem the first time, and the speed seems perfect and the lawn mower maintenance place even adjusted the speed up very slightly but within 5 minutes it starts coughing and spluttering and shuts down. And then will not restart for approx 20 minutes. Then it eventually restarts and will go through the above process again.

Any advice on what could be causing the problem would be great

Sounds like fuel starvation, dirt in a fuel line filter or in the bottom of the fuel tank. If you take the pipe off (you may not have a pipe, depends) going to the carburetor and blow back into the fuel tank. Might be best to take the top off the fuel tank. Hopefully it will be hard to blow through, then get easier?

Petrol is more expensive than water (just) so ensure you don't get a mouthful.
A foot pump or air line, might be an idea.

See how you get on.

OH, the spark plug might be going to pack up completely, only fails at the moment when hot?

Thanks for the reply I have just removed the spark plug from the mower, and it seems to have a good covering of oil and fuel over the end of it and is quite black is this normal for a petrol lawnmower or does it mean something maybe going wrong with the mowers engine ??

Will get a new spark plug for it tomorrow and see how it goes also.

Thanks again
Tony
