Used to be petrol through letter box, that hasnt been banned.
Just because people abuse things, dosnt mean to say they have to be banned.

Not a joke and probably not intended as a joke. That had all the hallmarks of a deliberate attack on the shop and/or the shop keeper.

My view is not to ban legal fireworks but to more severely punish those who intentionally use them as weapons. And educate those who are ignorant of safe use.

And severly punish importers and handlers of the often very dangerous illegal fireworks.

And yes as a teenager I did make home made fire works without accident.

yes,in theory some are small explosives detonated at 2-300 high metres high.
There are quicker and easier ways to make more lethal bombs that a large collection of powder.

The hooligans round our way were putting large fireworks next to cars and then setting them off, I can only assume the intention was to break the windows or try and damage the vehicles. We see plenty of other louts regularly throwing and sending rocket horizontally down footpaths.

The sad thing is it's never these idiots that get hurt only innocent by standers.

We need to get tougher with the sale of the 'explosives' imo. Sell to authorised displays only or raise the age limit to something a lot higher than 18. At the end of the day to buy explosives you probably need to be registered or have some sort of licence, but any one who looks 18 can buy these things that can quite easily blow off a limb or kill.

Wot, like only pensioners can buy fireworks ;)
