I have a Mac Allister 850w 115mm Angle Grinder. The Spindle Lock Button and a little spindle has worked loose and won't go back in. I think something has broken or missing, perhaps a spring.

Does anyone know whether I can get a replacement?

Thanks in advance.

I don't know about getting it fixed but if you are still using the spanner type to change blades then you could consider getting a Bosch SDS clic quick release grinder nut and then you don't need to use that spanner.

I put to Solent Tools the question that started this thread. Here is their reply.

There would have been a spring but also on the inside of the gearbox there would have been a retainer of some sort. You should check for that as it will possibly damage your gearbox. There are no spares for your unit but you can of course use your grinder without..

Enough said. Thanks JobAndKnock

Probably a small circlip or C-Type clip if the button shaft has a groove near the inside end.
As Solent stated, this can mess up your gears if it gets between the cogs. May be an idea to break the gearbox open and check around the sides in the compacted grease. You may think it's safe there but when the grease warms up it can be dragged into the workings.
