My electricity is an overhead supply . It comes from the pole to my neighbours house where it splits and a wire runs across from his house to mine. Will the electricity board charge me to have my own supply instead ?
You'll have to wait for Westie to confirm but my guess is that unless there's a really compelling reason for it to be changed then they will charge you many hundreds of pounds.
My advice is that it would be cheaper to buy your neighbour a bottle of whisky and apologise.
My neighbour has recently covered his but he has rendered straight to the cable.

This is about the earlier post where the cable between the two properties was rendered over.
my neighbour is an arrogant pig and has already said he wants my cables off his property and can make me do this.
This answer is quite correct, he cannot force you to do anything, nor can he actually force the DNO to do anything. He can ask them to remove them.my neighbour is an arrogant pig and has already said he wants my cables off his property and can make me do this.
I might be wrong, and stand to be corrected by Westie, but I think he'll find those cables are not "yours" but rather owned by your DNO and they most probably have some sort of wayleave to have them there!

It's surprising how many builders seem to be experts in how the DNOs do stuff and are usually totally wrong and cost their clients lots of cash
He has.if you get your neighbour to phone them saying he wants your supply of his property, then they might arrange to sort it out.
I spoke to the electric people today. the quoted him just over £800 to make the supply an underground one. My supply would have been free but he told me it was just over £800 so basically he wanted me to pay for his electric to be changed.
