I am trying to replace my one control switch in the hallway with a two controls, so that the light outside operates independently from the one in the hallway.
The switch currently fitted has wires as follows:
- one red plugged onto the label 'IN' of the switch.
- another red and a yellow plugged together onto the label 'OUT' of the
switch.
- a blue and a black joined together.
- plus a earth to the back of the switch (as is it a brass one).

The switch I am trying to fit now has instead two sets of L1s, L2s, and Commons.
I have tried a few combinations yesterday, with no success. Could you please help me?
Thank you all.

I don't think you can achieve what you want to do without further alterations.

Thank you, securespark. What kind of alterations are you talking about?

I think you will need to install additional cables to the switch.

I just noticed another thing, existing wires are as follows:
- one red plugged onto the label 'IN' of the switch.
- another red (with a black tape sticked on) and a yellow plugged
together onto the label 'OUT' of the switch.
- a blue and a black joined together.
- plus a earth to the back of the switch (as is it a brass one).

The switch I am trying to fit now has instead two sets of L1s, L2s, and Commons.

Thank you all.

You need to put a wee loop from common to common, along with your red that came from IN on the previous switch - so they are both permanently live. You could try putting the red in one of your L1s and the yellow in the other L1, Keep the blue and black in the connector. see if that gives you any luck but tbh as mentioned above you will prob have to alter if this doesnt work
