Spotlights in soffits

Hi all

Im fairly certain i know the answer i am going to get here but here goes nothing!

Can i put spotlights in the soffit eaves of my roof? Iv got a warm deck roof on my extension.

building control have still got to pass off but Id really like to stick some downlights that project all the wall along the width of the extension.

Now i am thinking it could cause me some rott issues and building control might not like?

I have 9mm clad pannels as under soffits.

The warm roof wouldnt normally extend into the soffits, building control wont be interested, and they won't cause rot.
Put your lights in.

Sorted. Thats what i wanted to hear.

We have a 300mm overhang on two sides of the roof. Thats where they are going.

Because downlights highlight any discrepancies there may be on the finished surface.
Shine a torch across the wall first.

gotcha. Its got to be rendered so il be sure to pass that on to the bloke troweling it on haha

Any light close to the masonry shining down across it like that will either show off or show up the brickwork. Steppy brickwork will create shadows that will look hideous.
