Spray to prevent rust and corrosion on metal?

Can anyone recommend at b and Q etc a spray I can spray on some metal to stop rust and corrosion?

BUT its not a one time spray , would need to be done regularly , I have been told every 6mths / 1 year

What sort of metal? Outside? Tools? Something in regular use?

Anything from light oil to grease really, but depends what its going on, for how long, etc.
