Hi,
I am looking at buying an HVLP sprayer to spray some kitchen cabinets with an oil Based paint. Can anyone recommend the sort of HVLP sprayer I would need to get a good quality finish? I was looking at an Apollo system but did not know what size system I would need.

I want to get the cheapest system for the project I have!

Dec, have you used/own this earlex model?

I have a few questions if so

Yes I do own one it's tucked away in the garage and therefore rarely used, what I will say is that this product is well capapable as a semi pro unit of achieving a good result regarding many paint systems. Perhaps I would not be the best qualified to answer your questions yet I will indeed try to.

Thanks dec.

I've thought for a while having a unit like the earlex would be useful for mouldings etc but i'm wondering how well they operate at 90 degree angle to the ceiling and the angle to coving/top of wall because of the way the gun is fed?
Also from demos i've seen i've noticed some cheaper units tend to spit and splutter at times, have you found this?

Does the gun have a wide spraying area for walls and ceilings enabling it to compete time wise against a 9" sleeve?

The main uses i'd have i suppose would be spraying mist coats, ornate mouldings and radiator covers and emulsioning if practicle and perhaps WB u/c's and top coats on doors trim etc

Would appreciate your thoughts

dcdec,

A short while ago I had to decorate a very large Victorian property not a million miles away from where I live, most of the rooms contained dado height wood paneling and I found the unit to perform very well and the spray pattern was I found to be very direct with little to no overspray.

The only other times of which I have used it was to apply both oil and water based u/c/glosses, yet this was only for experimental purposes and I found the earlex was not only easy to control but also left a superb finish. With regard to emulsion paints I could'nt offer you any advice, and with regard to the pattern of spray being equal to a 9" sleeve my answer would be no.

There is I believe a wide range of accessories available so I would'nt doubt that what you require could be achieved, I hope you found my reply helpful.

Cheers
