Hi,

The springs have gone on my Cannon Canterbury MkII grill door. I have purchased new springs, but because the old ones were broken, I cannot see how to fix the new ones. I have some photos here:

Most parts of the hinge move together, so the springs must fix on to some part of the hinge, and some part of the frame, so that the springs are tensioned when the door is opened. However, I cannot stretch the spring enough to achieve this.

Any thoughts gratefully received.

Many thanks,
Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,

The spring goes the other way round to the way you're holding it in the picture; the bottom hook goes in first from the right hand side and loops around / under the hinge. The top hook of the spring then loops over the top pin holding the hinge in place, it uses the nylon sleeve over the centre pin to rub against when opening / closing. I used a piece of cable to pull it over the top pin and got some assistance to push the hook over the pin, as when you're stretching the spring upwards it tends to come away from the door.

Hope this helps, cheers
