Spur Cable Length

Just a quick question regarding spurs. When spurring off a double socket is there a maximum permitted cable length between the socket and a fused connection unit?

Additionally is there a maximum cable length between the fused connection unit and the appliance it is supplying?

I understand this question may involve some numbers so let's say the device is 3 amps.
