Can I connect a lighting spur from a 2way lighting circuit. Thought I'd done it right but the switch on the spur causes the starter on the 2way to try to start the strip light in the 2way circuit.

Thanks

Just built a downstairs bathroom next to my garage. Garage has a strip light and 2 way switching of said light. One switch by the up & over door and another near the connecting door into the house. I've pre wired a 1 way light into the bathroom and I'm left with a trailing twin & earth that I want to connect to a power source. I thought I could pick this up from the 2 way circuit in the garage but it's proving a bit difficult. I've tested the bathroom light & it's switch by connecting the twin & earth into a 13amp plug and it worked fine.

you have coonected it to the wrong place thats why it doesn't work, you want to connect it to the ceiling rose (or jb if it has one ) not the switch.

did you say switch in bathroom? i hope for your sake its a pull cord switch or outside of the bathroom, not in it as it will be against the regs

Thanks for the reply.

It's not connected to the switch, I was just trying to identify the feed cable from the two that go into/come out of the switch so that I could connect a jb there. Surely one of these is a permanent live that's broken by the switch?

Switch is outside of bathroom and 3m away from the sink/ wc etc.

there is a permanent live and switched live but you require a live and neutral which you will find in the light or its rose
