I have just had a new flat roof, with new joists, and firrings which significantly are positioned perpendicular to the joists, over which is 18mm OSB and a fibreglass roof.
When temperature changes occur, in the morning and evening, the roof goes "doink!" over and over, until the temperature change has settled.
It is not unliveable but quite annoying.
The other part of the same roof, where the firrings are parralel to (on top of) the joists, there is no noise.
Is there a way to stop it?
Would linseed oil painted onto each join make a difference?
Can I even cut through the firrings now that the roof is done, to take the pressure off?
