Hi all,

We had a new bathroom and shower fitted about a year ago and the shower has always emitted a high-pitched squealing noise from the moment it's turned on to when it's turned off. It's possible to turn the dial to lower/higher the pressure and you can find a position where it stops, but it starts again after a short period of time. The old shower was fine.

The bathroom company can offer no advice and we've turned the water pressure down, but it makes no difference.

It probably means nothing, but it's a Mira Sports shower.

If anyone can offer any advice/solution, it would be much appreciated ... the noise is driving us nuts!

Cheers,
Mimi

Has the installer asked Mira?

If not then have you asked Mira?

If not then why not?

Of course, this was the second thing we did after contacting the company who installed our bathroom (who denied any responsibility).

Mira said it was probably a water pressure problem, i.e. the water supply coming into the house, so it would not be affected by turning the water pressure tap down.

If this is the case, why didn't our last shower "squeal" and how do we resolve the problem?

put a water pressure gauge on your kitchen cold tap or garden tap and turn it on that will give you your static pressure.
then run another mains cold tap or flush the toilet that will give you your dynamic pressure.

OK, thanks, I'll do this ... but what then? How can you change the water pressure coming into the house?

You'll probably want to be reducing it, if anything, so a pressure limiting device is what you want, and they're not expensive or difficult to fit.

Here's one:
