Hi,

I'm having a pergola built from UC3 tanalised timber, but the moisture reading is coming up at 20% and I wanted to stain it before getting it installed. I've spoken to Cuprinol and Sika (Blackjack Bitumen Paint) and both have said not to paint whilst the wood is moist.

The issue i have right now is that waiting till the summer to paint it will be a real pain and there is a risk it will spoil tiling and adjacent fencing through splashes.

Can anyone offer any advice here? Is there a way to rapidly dry it or prime it with something that allows me to paint it?

Thanks in advance!

Timber will always test as almost 20%. Just make sure the surface is dry, though this is less than an ideal time of years, to do it.
