Hi there,

I recently bought a house with a stair lift in it.

I have managed to take the stair lift off of the rail by taking the limiter off and pressing up until it came off (not sure if thats the correct way to do it!!)

Im looking to remove the rail now.....I have removed all visible screws but the rail is still solid as one piece.

There are small screws embedded into the rail which appear to be stopping it moving however they are an unusual shape

Thanks for any help you can give :)

Looks like you may need a special release key, which pushes into the half circular hole of the small screw fitting, these are found on electrical lifts ,(
Lift release key)
You could try a thin screwdriver and push it into the hole and twist.

ah got them out!

ended up having to use a punch bit with a hammer and they released the 'screws'

They were like metal rawlplugs like below.

When I relaid the stair carpet, I struggled to remove and refix the lift, with the seat, etc., still on the rail - an incredible amount of, awkward weight to manoeuvrer. On having to install a new set of batteries, I had to rotate/lean the seat over, to fit them, which was when I discovered, that the entire seat, is simply help in place, to the base, with four bolts, and a plug. Remove the seat, and the trolley left on the rail, is much lighter, but I never got as far as removing the trolley. I suspect the trolley part, is simply removed the way you did it - run of the end of the track.
