Hi

Will soon be decorating hall, stairs and landing. The wall on stairway runs up to curved ceiling on landing.

we intend to have hallway painted in natural calico and the ceilings white.
the options are to install a picture rail where stair wall meets curved ceiling or have the 2 colours meeting
are there any potential issues with this if i decide to go without the picture rail?

i was thinking of painting the ceiling and then pitting a straight line of tape across and paining the coloured wall up to that.

cheers

A picture would be useful. Dont use tape you'll create a ridge use a chalk line and natural calico has gotta be the new magnolia, done tons of it (and it looks like magnolia too)!

Would you not get a ridge by cutting in with out the tape?

Got to agree with the natural calico being the new maggy except people like paying a bit more for it! :D

You can use tape if you want or follow the advice given above. Just choose whats easiest for you.

Good luck!

Complete renovation of 30s semi waiting for family to move in. everything to do. Gf picked the colours, not what I would choose but I couldn't give a $%@# what colour it is so long as its finished :)

Well the colours are similar but different. I liked natural calico so much I used it in my own house several times.

The easiest way is not always the best  Sometimes one has to venture away from the easiest if they want to excel themselves and create a better job.

Tape will leave ridge and can cause all sorts of problems. It's not always the best solution.

dcdec's proposal of using a chalk line and also applying a bit of patience will create the better job.

Good luck!
