Just found the light in the downstairs toilet has blown. Had 2 other lights in upstairs bathroom and en-suite, (one in each), blown for a few weeks but not got round to replacing them yet. So decided to check they were all the same type of lamp.
NO!
One is a replaceable LED unit, (36v), one is a G10, (12v) and the other a G16(?), (the type with push in straight pins), 240v
The plan was to just buy a multi-pack box as spares. Now I have the choice. Buy separate lamps for each corresponding unit or change the units for the same type of voltage. Either way is not going to be cheap. 3 separate prices for the lamps but if I standardise them it then means I would need to change out the existing ones which are different to the same as the new ones. If they had all been the same voltage when installed, (and same fitting type obviously), I could have just replaced them from my stock of GU10's.

IMO the multiplicity of funny lamps is now redundant.

You can do pretty well anything you want with a mains voltage LED, with a standard or small fitting

in UK, BC or SBC, but anywhere else, ES or SES.

Manufacturer of transformers and freaky lights may mourn, but not the rest of us.

Like when EU mandated standard connectors for phone chargers.

Brexiteers are still bemoaning the fact that the EU (UK then included) got rid of filament lighting...

You can spot them at car boot sales sniffing out their beloved energy wasting bulbs...

But then them brexiteers are a backward thinking lot!

Spoke to the LL this morning and explained the 'problem'. He said he will get his sparky round to sort them out for now and in a few weeks, he will come back and change them all to the same type of fitting so we don't have problems sourcing a variety for spares.
Sparkie came just after lunch with all manner of lamps and got the three of them working again. Also let a spare of each type in case others go in the meantime.
He's a good LL so I know they will get changed, which is good news.

Got one, (two actually). Couldn't do without it sometimes.
