Hello folks. First time on here.

Ive a quick question. I make chicken coops and the likes for family etc. Whenever I make the runs I tend to hammer in staples which isnt the best method. Does anybody know of/ can recommend a good staple gun which can fire staples into 2*1 rough?

Thanks

Go for a machine. Air operated is the cheapest. One not mentioned here also is Sealey.
Paslode make them also. Can fire up to 50mm staples. But expensive at over £500....

I have a Stanley Bostitch nailer and can't fault it. Nicely engineered.
And you have the choice of stainless or galvanised staples.

Plenty at Screwfix, have a look at the reviews as some of them goes straight into timber with no problem unless your timber is hardwood then look at the heavy duty ranges

I'd stay well clear of those things at screwfix as recommended by masona.

Firstly the so called "heavy duty" is still too light duty for what you are doing and secondly they probably don't do rustproof staples!
Stick to using the hammer and 20mm galvanised staples if you can't afford the air operated stapler.

I reckon a cable tacker will be fine for chicken wire - FFS it's not heavy duty.

Norcon is a knob.

No a cable tacker is not fine you idiot. How many chicken coups have you made then?

How many have your Lithuanian employees made then?

What you're recommending is overkill

They do!

It is but can be fiddly for some people, even screws with wide washers will do it

No ones saying it won't go into timber.
14mm staples is the biggest in the link you gave and are too small for holding chicken wire imo.
You can get 20mm hammer in staples. The op should stick with that if he's just doing the odd one for friends and family.
After that go air.
Those other things are a gimmick.

beef - check-out Belfast Gumtree first ... look for air stapler/compressor.

Hand staplers, even the dog's Arrow, aren't the route to go; yep, they'll shoot the staples in but 1/2" will be the max depth and in my experience that isn't deep enough. One tug on the mesh WILL pop the staple out! Oh, and Mr Fox will thank you. Also after about 20 shots your thumb/hand combo will ache like mad ... all very silly really. For a one-off coop use the hammer-in type. Tip: hold the small staples in position with a pair of long nose pliers when striking with hammer.

However, for a batch or if you just fancy graduating to air tools (I think everybody should) ....

Get a cheepo air jobby; first try second-hand - Gumtree being good as it's local and you can pick-up/inspect or ebay (risk maybe). You can even buy new stapler/compressor combo for around £100.

Tip: file a very small vee in the middle of the safety lever shoe as this'll very much aid the placement of the tool on the chicken wire. No vee notch will allow the stapler to slip out of position and cause misses.

It's to contain chickens - not velociraptors.
