Is it a good idea to install a standard looking 1700 x 700 steel bath in a family house? I have seen a quite cheap steel bath at screwfix and just wondering, if there are any issues with having a steel bath instead of a typical acrylic bath.

steel baths are absolutely fine, potentially they are prone to damage if something is dropped into it, but perhaps none more so than dropping something into a plastic bath, there is a slight heat loss but we have 4 kids and a steel bath and i havent herard anyone complaining about it

Steel per se, no problems, but watch the shape of the "U". Some of the steel ones are not at all flat at the bottom so no good for showering in.
