I'm in the process of laying a concrete floor that requires 100mm of concrete with a layer of a142 mesh

Due to the location i will have to cut the mesh in order to get it into place.

my question is this - what is the minimum overlap necessary to retain the strength

Two squares is plenty, lap required for A142 (6mmDIA in 20N conc) is about 260mm from memory.

40x diameter of bars.. 6mm x 40 = 240mm
But more lap is always better
