Steel roofing panels 100mm insulated

Planning on using something like Kingspan panels for a workshop building, each panel about 5m long.

How bendable are they?

I realise they are pretty rigid, but how much can they actually bend over that length?

The problem is that the eaves 'plate' is possibly 10mm higher than the plane of the purlins which are at about 1.2m spacing. I doubt the panel will flex 10mm in 1.2m, so I'd have to pack up the nearest purlin but what about the next one, or the one beyond that?

I might not need 10mm, it may end up only 8 or even 6mm. Just trying to get some idea of what might be possible.

Anyone any experience of these panels and can give me some idea of how much they can flex?

Why wouldn't you just pack out where you need to? Are you sure you can (presumably) just buy a couple of panels? And getting them onto your roof and into position won't be fun with each panel weighing 60kg or thereabouts?

10mm will not be an issue..

It might be a struggle even with two of you, heaving 5m panels into place, they will be heavy, especially so with insulation.
 
Why wouldn't you just pack out where you need to? Are you sure you can (presumably) just buy a couple of panels? And getting them onto your roof and into position won't be fun with each panel weighing 60kg or thereabouts?
Especially if the wind gets up. :oops:

So a 100mm insulated panel will bend 10mm in 1.2m? I'm surprised it will go that far, but good news if it does.

Yes, the idea is to pack up the purlins to suit, but was trying to work out by how much and that depends on their flexibility, hence my question.

The manufacturers seem reluctant to quote any figures regarding how much they will flex and just stick to the "must be flat" line which is not helpful as of course they will flex to some extent and frustratingly, buildings are never mm perfect anyway. I just want to know by how much they can flex so I can figure if and what packing will be required to enable the fixing screws to hold the panel onto the purlin, while not distorting the surface nor squashing the screw seals too tight.

At the eaves it might be 8mm high, so I'm thinking 4mm packing at the first purlin only. So the panel will need to flex the 8mm over 2.2m (purlins actually at 1.1m) which seems feasible.

One side will actually be nearer 6m so not light I realise, but I have a genie lift, scaffold tower, bandstands, boards etc. Most importantly though, with about 200 m² of roof to put up, I am not intending to do it all myself. However I need to work out exactly what is needed and get it delivered for the roofers to then come in and install.
 
1200/10 = 120 to 1 Of course it will allow that.
Thanks. I realise the ratio is low, but I have never handled 100mm insulated panels so have had to rely on others' comments which have mostlhy been how little they bend.

I have a good idea how to proceed now, so thanks to all for the replies. :)
