We have a wall mounted combi boiler and when the heating reaches temperature or when the hot tap is turned on/off with the heating running there is a very loud judder which goes through the pipes/boiler. Can't quite trace where it is. We've lagged the pipes around the boiler to try and cushion the bang but it didn't help. Is it doing damage to the boiler and is there anything we can do to stop it?

Hmmmm. About all that happens when the heating reaches temperature is that the pump stops and the flames go out, and the fan stops/slows.

Could be worth a call to Ideal. Which combi is it,, by the way?

Haven't had any divine inspiration on what could be causeing the judder. Try Ideal's tech line.

I take it that it happens when the flames go out? Can't remember if switching from CH to HW would make it do that momentarily. Try turning the ch temperature down - any difference?

By the way I recently got a Sprint going which had been put in 13 years ago and never used (!). Couple of things had stuck but it's a very mendable combi - all the bits can be found cheap. Not the greatest HW supply though. Is it the 75, or a Rapide?
