Hi guy's

we have a site where we have a small job which requires use of a specialist bit of kit. We have one and it's 240v. However the site only has 110v available. Could we 'convert' temporarily a 240-110 site transformer so we can go the other way? IE step up not down..

The running load is approx 2-3 amps

Cheers

In theory, yes.

In practice? I certainly wouldn't.

Are you sure there is no 240 on site? It has to be dropped down somewhere!

Failing that - get a geny.

Good
Why not, it's only for 1 hr max?
There is but it's 300 m away
There is 3Phase inside the cabinet but no netural. However we have been warned tapping off may cause serious damage -so best not.
I'm trying to keep the cost plus I don't believe they would allow me to run the thing inside.

I also see 'step up' transformers are available..

If you must do this, bear in mind:

The centre taped earth connection
Protection against indirect contact on the 240v side

Won't post what I'd do in this situation because its a bodge and a bit dodgey, like
