Hi, I recently had to install a new pyronix sterling 10 circuit board as my other decided to pack in. I fitted all the wires in exactly the same place as they were on the previous circuit board as all the connections were in exactly the same place. (just thought a simple exchange would work!)

I powered it up and all was fine. The problem I have is when I go to arm the alarm and enter the factory code (will change later) the alarm just goes straight off with the LCD display saying Personal Alarm.

I have double checked all the wiring and the only thing i haven't done is to install the new LCD control panel which I received with then new PCB.

Is it necessary to install the new LCD panel or is there something else causing this to happen?????

Many Thanks for your help!!

Jon

I would guess that by default one of your circuits is programmed as a P.A. and it is open. i.e a door.

Cheers. How I go about changing it, is it done via the engineers menu?

Thanks

One thing about these panels that alot of people don't know is that the NVM (or "memory" in laymans terms) is actually in the keypad and not in the main endstation like 99% of panels. So, if you change the keypad on one you will have to reprogram the panel. Now you would think that changing the panel and keeping the exisiting keypad would retain all the programming, but it could be causing this problem.

I would try changing the keypad for the new one and re-program from scratch.

Maybe the original board had a small wire or staple linking out the offending zone?

Find which zone it is and link it out.

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions.

I have changed the keypad to the new one I received with the new board and I now can't access the engineer mode to program the zones.

Sometimes the panel won't accept any buttons and sometimes the panel will only let me enter the function button and 0 and not the extra numbers 9999.

I have tried resetting the system and that has not worked.

In answer to your original post.

You need to link out the PA connections at the panel. They are in the bottom right hand corner of the panel marked PA.

Once that's done, if you're still getting problems then do the NVM reset. either use the jumper suplied or just connect the two terminals with a piece of cable and power up.

That should have you back to all default codes and you can program again.

I've just put one of these in myself as a DIYer, had a few hurdles to cross but got there in the end so if you have any questons I'll try to answer as best as I can. Hope the above helps.

thanks for the message.

I managed to sort out the problem. It turned out one of the unused zones wasn't linked out which as soon as I linked it out and reset the system all was fine.
