sterling 10 fault

I had an existing sterling 10 which suddenly had a fault the screen on the lcd keypad shows
_sterling armed and no matter what I do it wont go if i press a couple of buttons the key pad sounder gos off constantly?
I changed the whole lot for new and it does exactly the same what can the problem be?
