stiff drum on a whirlpool 3RAWZ480EMQ33

Hi, got a whirlpool that when started the drum is really stiff to turn, the drum moves freely with the belt dissconnected as does the motor.
As soon as you connect belt and tension it the drum goes stiff and when started the motor strains its self, if you give the drum a push then it will run round but squeaks, any ideas?
