Sorry if this is an old topic but has anyone else suffered? I now have to isolate mine and remove it from the pipework then hold it in a vice. I have tried a little vaseline and some silicon as a lube but to no avail. Has a fellow sufferer found a solution?

not unless the large ring spanner wasnt given on install.when installed they should only be hand tight.

early ones had dodgy threads, this could be the case with yours.

I had the same problem!

I was told that the canister and lid are designed and manufactured to expand and contract together.

When servicing, the lid can contract causing it to become difficult to screw back onto the canister.

If possible run the lid under hot water to expand, and then place back onto the canister.

Hope this helps.

my mum's one doesn't turn too freely. It feels as if the threads are "gritty" or their smooth polished surface has worn away It makes me think of unglazed pottery surfaces..

I put some silicone grease on the threads with a small brush. If the threads appear to be dirty, clean them first.

Presumably, you are doing it up just hand-tight and undoing it with the spanner?

try contacting magnaclean themselves about this, at bg we've been given exchange kits to deal with this at no charge. if you've got your warranty card, maybe magnalcean will send it out to you.
