Stocks..

I

imamartian

... no, not the ones linked to shares... but the big wooden things that hold hooligans and scoudrels...

An article today in one of the 'finer' publications, suggests bringing them back... so you can walk through town and launch tomatoes and cabbages and insults at the local villains...

What do we think? good or bad?

Or would the human rights bill come into play again?

No quite the opposite, far to often anonymity is preserved due to the secret family courts or the ridiculous human rights laws.

Good idea, but since the scrotes on Community Service can refuse to wear high-viz jackets with "Community Payback" on them in case the humiliation infringes their human rights then I can't see us being able to bring back the stocks while we're still part of all this EU nonsense.

You'd probably also find that trowing rotten veg at someone would get you arrested for assault!

There's a fine balance here. Suppose it's wiser to play it safe - or would you bar no holds?

Depend's what the circumstance's are & what they have done ??

I would put it another way. You have no anonymity from the provable truth. Rape trial participants should have anonymity until the verdict, then you either name the accused as a rapist or he is innocent and can stay anonymous. IF the accuser turns out to be a liar, they they want naming.

Ive said this before, and ill say it again, the general overriding principle should be if its the truth, then its the truth, and its fine to say it out loud, if its an inconvenient truth then tough ****, its still the truth.

The problem is (hence the wisdom of caution) when the "truth" is subsequently shown not to have been the "truth" at all

Would 2 hours in the stocks serve to replace an ASBO?

Depend's what they got the Asbo for ????

please explain..

Some people have been issued with Asbo's for not having there wheeley bin lid shut , one woman goe an asbo for constantly answering her door in her underware , woman feeding bird's was issued with an asbo so & so forth , I would not put them in the stock's however any violent little Hoody no problem in fact 2 hour's would not be long enough age restraint would be 12 any one under 12 would get it on there 12th
birthday !!

Or that the Press then decides which "truths" get a wide airing, and which get conveniently ignored.

Well if that's true, that's not questioning the validity of the stocks, but questions the validity of those asbos?
