Our front garden is on a slight slope to the house. Grass comes up to the wall and has done since it was built in 2001. We moved in two years ago and thinking about digging out a foot or width from the front of house to replace it with some stones. It would look a lot nicer and also be easier to mow/strim

Are there any negatives for doing this? I've seen a lot of houses with this, so presume it's done for good reasons. Albeit might be more for drainage

Thanks

Put some weed membrane or even thick plastic down before you lay the stones to stop weed growth.

I'm reading that might not be a good idea as it will slow down drainage and could cause more problems
