Hiya,

What can I use to permanently protect wallpaper? I have just had to trim off the edge overhang and dropped the knife which has taken a big chunk of wallpaper off.

Bit of a crap design if it can't take minor damage - what happens if you wallpaper a whole room and in 6 months time you get a tear. Can't expect people to strip the whole lot off and start again.

How many homeowners would accept having to demolish a house and rebuild if one brick comes loose.

Wallpaper simply means a paper of which is applied to the wall, if you are going to drop sharp objects such as a trimming knife upon them then you will be more than liable to damage them.

So the best advice with regard to their protection would be to take more care.

No, you'd patch it with the spare roll you kept in the under-stairs cupboard, scraping the edges of the patch really thin on the reverse side.
