As the title says weve got a 30 yr old stopcock and the main pipe is plastic coloured black and im assuming 20mm???

Its got a slight weep from the bottom nut and weve tried wrapping tape around both olives top and bottom and still the same problem. So im thinking time for a new stopcock, what sizes do they range from and what size would you need for a 20mm plastic pipe ie. 25mm/15mm, 15mm/15mm etc

If it's black it will possibly be imperial Alkathene.
Philmac fittings fit both imperial Alkathene and metric MDPE without adaptors.
You will need either a 20mm/1/2" or a 25mm/3/4". The ends can be converted to metric copper using the correct insert.

1/2" alkathene is roughly 3/4" OD - 3/4" is roughly 1" OD. The nominal size for alkathene is the ID. MDPE uses the OD.

Philmac fittings can be a bit bulky, so may not be suitable if space is limited.

I am surprised if PTFE tape on the olive is not stopping the leak.

Its possible the pipe is damaged and cutting off say 40 mm might enable a joint to be made.

Its always possible that a new olive MIGHT work. Problem is that a copper olive would be best as they are softer but probably not available in 3/4 " although possible as they are soft then a 22 mm might still work.
