Hi everyone,
Im hoping someone may be able to offer their advice to prevent my spare bedroom floor squeeking (very loudly and everywhere)

Some background;
- The house was built in 1896 and the original floorboards have been removed at some point by the previous owners and replaced with the T&G chipboard type.
- The original floor joists in this bedroom dipped by up to 50mm in the middle of room. As such, we bolted new c16 joists to the sides of the existing and relaid the T&G floor. At this point, there was no squeeking.
- We had the room re-plastered and since then the floor sqeeks very loudly where ever you stand.

Would laying some 6mm plywood likely resolve this? And is plywood the right thing to put down?

Thanks in advance.

Did you glue the tongues? Did you glue the chipboard to the joists? Did you pull the joints in nice and tight? What type of fixings did you use and at what centres? What centres are the joists on? What section are the joists? What length are the joists (the span)?

All factors in floor squeak, I'm afraid. Laying more stuff on top most likely won't cure it
