Storm Drain Clearance

Hello all,

I'm putting this question in plumbing as well as roofing and guttering. A couple of years ago I cleaned out the storm drain (pictured) because the rainwater was not draining and was flooding the area around our house. Recently our local management association has had some other storm drains blocked in a similar manner and through the grapevine found out I had cleared this one drain. Long story short they've asked me to clear the other drains and have told me they will pay me the going rate. I have tried to find the going rate online but can't even find this service listed anywhere. I suppose it is done by the local council in most cases. These drains are on private land however so there must be a way to get a quote. Any ideas on where I can look? Thanks much!!

You lifted those HEAVY covers and dug out the in the gulley pot . What with all the H+S bo-lox and London rates....Gotta be a Ton Each ...cash.

Dig out Yellow pages, or Google a contractor that offers a gulley emptying service, get their quote, add your commision and pass it on.

This job demands the right kit, which is a gulley emptier. Unless you've access to one of those I would leave well alone. No-one knows quite what may be down there. Knives, glass, sharps, anything......

sorry for the late thank you everyone. The family and I went out of town yesterday and didn't get home until late. I removed the covers this morning and took a look and decided not to go forward with the job. As has been said there was a ton of silt down one and about the same of fermenting gaseous muck in the other. The previous storm drains I cleared were filled with mainly mulched leaves. Don't have the equipment really to clear these. Thanks again to all. I'll be looking for a contractor online.
