We've just had a power-cut, maybe due to the wind, it took the entire area out for 10 minutes. It took us by surprise, in the middle of cooking a late Sunday dinner. We had to dash around, trying to remember where torches were left, last time seen.

Quite a change from the freezes of last week, with it hitting 13.6C in my back garden..

Were just outside of it and the predicted 60 mph winds didn't happen today either. But the storm proper hasn't arrived yet so it could be a 1987 who knows.

My weather stations is reporting peaks of 30mph, but because it's in a sheltered location, that is probably nearer 40/45mph.

The wind is brisk here in middle-earth but nothing too bad. The river's running high although the floodplain should take care of anything worse - pity the poor bugrs in low-lying country.

The wind is picking up in the wilds of west Essex shire.

Fairly windy in South and some ferry services suspended.

But not as bad as other storms we've had.

Wind SSW, persistent light rain.

I see Chelsea Man U yesterday.

Lucky they didn't bring a firm down from Middle earth.

If they had you could have taken the Shed.

Wind turbines currently generating a third of UK demand.

A bit more than gas.

Nukes currently very low, don't know why. Only about 10%, about the same as France is sending.

Be turning themselves off soon and generating nothing when the wind picks up

John d went missing on this topic last week when it was bright sunny and very little wind, tends to do that.

no it doesnt tend to do that

perhaps Gant should rely on evidence and facts rather than gut feeling

Also energy is made up of a mix, so availability of each type is spread.

"In terms of availability, onshore wind turbines have been shown to reach values in a range of 95–97%"
