Stove to flue pipe increaser - position

Hi all

I've been given conflicting advise so come on here for help.

I've got a 7" flue liner currently connected to the same size on an existing stove.

I've got a replacement stove that has a 6" stove and so need to fit an increaser. Should this be placed at the top or bottom of the vitreous flue pipe or are either acceptable installations? So can I use the existing 7" one or would I need to get another 6" one?
