Ok, so i have a mains unvented hot water cylinder with a Gloworm HX system boiler with the usual 2 honeywell zone valves. All of which is controlled by a Danfoss twin channel programmer.
Central heating zone valve not opening when on demand. So i checked voltage on synchron motor.........240volts.....decided to replace whole unit.
Working fine for a few hours, then no heating again.
Checked synchron motor again and this is the bit thats got me bebuggled
Heating on 240 volts at synchron motor but only until paddle switch travels about halfway over, then voltage drops to almost nothing, then the weird bit.......voltage leaps to well over 300 volts and the valve remains shut
After 30 yrs in the industry i have never heard or come across this???
Is it more likely to be a problem with the custards consumer unit and a job for an electrical engineer???.........BTW this weird voltage behaviour is not apparent on the H/W zone valve
