Stringer Construction

Hi, I'm trying to decide if it's best to construct stringers from a singe length of wood or by composite, i.e cut out the risers separately and then attach them to another length of wood. Would the composite method be stronger, due to the uncompromised nature of the backer piece?

(I'll be using standard C16 45x245mm at just over 1 metre total rise)
