Hi,
My father-in-law's drive is tarmac over a concrete base and it looks like the concrete has started to crack as the tarmac is split and crumbling in a few places.
He doesn't want to pay to get the job done professionally and is planning to DIY it by stripping off the tarmac and then laying down a new concrete layer in sections to cope with the concrete expanding.
The drive has a flat section at the top about 2 car lengths, and a sloped section about 1:5 gradient that is just over 1 car length.
He's asked me for advice but I wouldn't know where to start ...
So, any chance you guys could explain if this plan is possible/insane?
What depth of concrete should be used to re-lay the drive?
What mix to use for a drive?
What additives etc?
Many thanks,
Isley
