Hi All,
I'm trying to drain the system but when I undo the square nut nothing happens and the insert remains in the valve.
Will anything drastic happen if i try to pull the internal part out of the valve as I will obviously need to close it off.
Please see the drain valve in my image album.
Regards
Paul.

Try tightening the drain off back up as tight as you can and then undo again. That sometimes frees the washer - but splits it. Have a spare for when you refill.

Or, remove the guts and fish around with a small bladed screwdriver (or screw in a large screw) and pull the washer out. Be prepared if you try this... plenty of towels etc.

Good luck.

Best thing to have with you is a wet vacuum, Wickes sell them for about £30.00. Is the valve outside or inside. If inside then a lot of dust sheets are needed and a spare washer. You could even buy a new fitting, so that when you remove the square nut and 'dig' out the old washer with a screw driver (vacuum turned on) you can then fit the new internal parts. Doing this will get you heart racing, but all good fun. Be careful of any black water that comes out as it is very good at staining the carpet.

The valve is inside and it's a tiled floor so ok there.
What size washers will I need?
cheers
