Hi all, looking for some advice. Recently bought a new flat and looking to install new stud "drop" ceilings in most rooms. Multiple reasons for this - better insulation, better sound insulation, more depth to be able to install recessed lighting and also hide existing artex ceilings.
Will be doing multiple rooms, but starting with the largest, 5m x 4m living room. Planning on using 3x2 CLS and filling with insulation, but would 3x2 be sufficient across 4m spans if secured to ledgers and upwards to existing joists?
And what insulation/plasterboard would you recommend?
Flat isn't very warm but certainly other factors to address that (new windows etc) and while I can hear the neighbours above me, they're not excessively loud but I'd certainly like extra soundproofing to enjoy a quieter life. So looking for insulation that addresses both issues equally rather than one or the other.
Was looking at Rockwool RWA45 50mm but any suggestions for other types or thicknesses to fit within 63mm CLS?
With plasterboard, I was looking at standard 12mm to minimize weight etc, but may consider Gyproc Soundbloc or similar if it was recommended and no more trouble to install.
Thanks in advance!
