Hi all,
So I went to B&Q recently to buy the timber and door lining for a new stud wall.
The guy there was very helpful and said the best timber to use was 63mm CLS and also recommended a 108mm door lining.
However, now I am a bit confused. By my calculations, the door lining will be too wide: 63mm stud + 2 x 12.5mm plasterboard + 3mm of plaster either side makes a total wall thickness of 94mm. This will surely leave the door lining protruding out by 7 mm either side.
Is that normal? They did not sell any door linings less than 108mm.
Am I doing something wrong? Or do people plane down the door linings to fit the stud? I imagined that they would be a standard size!
Thanks,
Chris
