Hello,

I'm looking to remove a timber studded wall between the kitchen and dining room.

The house is an old timber structure with concrete in the middle seperating the semi detached structure.

This is not a load berring wall - the joists run the opposite way. A load berring wall had double the amount of studwork.

The question to anyone who has experience with such houses: Can I remove the lintel at the top once the studwork is removed? It will only be screwed in so surely it will not serve any purpose. The whole structure was covered in wooden sheets - covering it.

thanks

it just looks like the top of the studwork

if its not supporting anything it can come out

why has the ceiling got plywood on it rather than plasterboard

I've removed the plasterboard due to a leak coming from the bathroom above and pipework & light alterations. Fire rated 12.5mm will be going back on
