OK, I'm totally baffled and I thought I would try here...
Boiler was losing pressure, sometimes slowly, sometimes quickly. 3 engineers have looked at the boiler and all have declared it fit and working. The suspicion is that there is a leak. However, at worst, the system was needing to be refilled twice a DAY and there is absolutely no water penetration in the flat below. That amount of water can't simply disappear. When the heating is on, the pressure gauge doesn't go up any higher than about 1.4. The system starts to labour when you try and fill it past 1.1 or so. We've already tried adding leak sealer to the system with no joy.
Any recommendations would be welcome. The next step is to rip up the floorboards but, with no physical sign of a leak, I'm very reluctant to do this speculatively as the insurance wont pay for it if there isn't a leak.
Oh, one other thing - one radiator makes noises like water falling when you turn the heating on but one engineer dismissed this as having any diagnostic worth.
